Pastrana and his co-driver Christian Edstrom have won the Rally America National Championship for the past two seasons with their Subaru WRX. Now, after one event into the 2008 season, Edstrom has announced his retirement from the Subaru Rally Team. With no lack of talent under its roster, Subaru Rally Team has pegged World Rally Championship winning co-driver Derek Ringer to step in and strap down next to the X-Games King.

Domestically, Frank Vassallo IV of Wilmington, Delaware, just bought license plate number 6 for $675k at auction, and admittedly was prepared to spend up to a million. His family already owns Delaware plates 9, for which they paid $185k at auction in 1993, and number 27. “It’s a family thing,” explains Vassallo. “It’s a Delaware thing.” All we can say is WOW.

On February 25th, Nike officially announced their collaboration with all American denim brand, Levi’s. This project called “23 / 501″ will include limited edition items including sneakers, denim, t-shirts, caps and more. The package will be available only in 23 “markets” starting March 1st.
The Top Secret V12 Supra is heading to Nardo for a top speed run. Top Secret has been making the show rounds with its twin-turbo’d V12 Supra for the past year, but it’s finally putting its money where its mouth is and going for a top speed of 400 km/h (248 mph) later this year in Italy. Breaching 200 km/h hasn’t been an issue since the boosted 6.0-liter V12 is supposedly pushing out over 1,000 hp.

And suprisingly the checkered flag at this weekends Daytona 500 went to Ryan Newman of Penske Racing. The win was also the first Daytona victory for team Penske Racing, which, despite winning the Indy 500 a record 14 times, had never crossed the finish line first in Daytona.

The most recent news is that in neighboring emirate Dubai they’re gearing up for the grand opening of the first F1-X theme park, that is set to open the same time as the Ferrari theme park.
D 1 Grand Prix USA has announced the cancellation of 2008 point series events. Due to issues and timing from the Japan series, the D1 Grand Prix USA series is being cancelled for the 2008 year. It has been formally decided not to hold an event series in the U.S. but the “All Star World Championship” in November at Irwindale speedway is still scheduled to take place.

As a reflecton of the top quality, concerning their products and their service, the Purchaze store had a Porsche Cayman S for the promo team driving around during their opening. As a service back to the Porsche crew, Purchaze created the Nike Air Max Light GT3 RS. This car is being put on the market in four colors (silver, black, green and orange) and these colorways are also retraceable in the four pairs Purchaze and Leyp created together with Porsche.
